IMCG Field Symposium 2012 in the Andes (South America)

The Field Symposium and associated Congress and IMCG General will take place in two countries, Ecuador and Colombia from September 21, 2012 (arrival in Quito, Ecuador) to October 3, 2012 (departure from Bogota, Colombia).

• 22. September: Excursion to Pichincha area: Yanacocha reserve, GLORIA site
• 23. September: Excursion to paramo in Papallacta - Oyacachi (Quito water supply area): Short walk around Virgen de Papallacta (4000 m); Papallacta - Laguna Mogotes / Oyacachi (Cayambe-Coca Reserve, private road water company)
• 24. September: Excursion to Laguna San Marcos (Cayambe - Ecuador)Cayambe - Laguna San Marcos

• 26. September: Seminar with Stakeholders (quito - Ecuador)
• 27. September:Flight Quito - Bogota ; Morning: From the airport to Neusa reservoir -Laguna Verde dry paramo with Sphagnum and Aragoa abietina paramo peatland at 3650 m
  afternoon: Fuquene lake (2580 m) - Villa de Leiva
• 28. September: Excursion to Pantano de Martos and Reserve Encenillo - Bogota
  morning: Pantano de Martos
  afternoon: Tonime Reservoir and Encenillo Reserve
  Return to Bogota
• 29. September: Excursion to Chingaza National Park
  morning: Spaghnum peatland of Buitrago (humid paramo at 3600 m)
  afternoon: Classic Oreobolus and Plantago Peatland (3700 m)
  Laguna Seca (alternative option: Chuza reservoir and Chingaza lake)
• 30. September: Excursion south of Bogota, Sumapaz area
  Chisaca and Santa Rosa Valley
  If possible, visit to Plantago floating cushion bogs, lakes in Andabobos (3800 m)
• 01. October: Seminar at the Universidad de los Andes - Bogota

The costs are estimated on € 850 for IMCG members and € 950 for non-members. This sum includes food, accommodation (in twin rooms) and inland travel. The sum does not include your flights to Quito (start) and from Bogota (end). The sum also does not include the flight Quito-Bogota during the excursion on September 27 (early morning).

For the Flight on September 27 from Quito, Ecuador (UIO) to Bogota, Colombia (BOG) you can choose from two airline options:

When booking your intercontinental ticket you can try this local flight in your package, this might be considerably cheaper. To give you an idea: Paris-Quito-Bogotà-Paris with Iberia (via Madrid) on the intercontinental flights and Copa Air on the local flight would on these dates cost Euro 1284,-
